Wildlife Sanctuaries: A Labor of Love and Dedication

Caring for animals in sanctuaries is a full-time act of love, dedication, and endless compassion. Having run a farm with many different animals, I know firsthand the energy, resources, and deep patience it takes to provide them with a safe and nurturing home. Wildlife sanctuaries are true havens, run by incredible souls who pour their hearts into every life they protect.

If you’ve never witnessed the behind-the-scenes work of these sanctuaries, I encourage you to take a closer look—you’ll gain a whole new appreciation for what they do. These safe havens are always in need of support, and if you feel called to give, we have a link here on the site where we will directly take care of your donation. You can also visit their site to contribute directly. I believe in them wholeheartedly and have seen their impact firsthand.

Every bit of support makes a difference in the lives of these precious animals and the angels who care for them.

WILDSIDE Rehabilitation and Education Center, is a non-profit organization, opened in 1995 and devoted to the rehabilitation and release of sick, injured and orphaned wildlife. They are one of the largest wildlife rehabilitation centers in Michigan, each year treating approximately 1200-2000 animals, representing over 50 different wildlife species.

I currently volunteer at, WILDSIDE and the love and dedication that go into caring for the animals are truly unbelievable. Every week I am there, I witness firsthand the compassion, hard work, and commitment that make this center a safe haven for wildlife. The care they provide is nothing short of extraordinary, and I’m honored to be a part of their mission.

Wild Bird Fund | New York City, New York

Wild Bird Fund is a state and federally licensed 501(c)(3) nonprofit that rehabilitates sick, injured and orphaned wildlife and releases them back to the wilds of New York City.

Each year, they rehabilitate more than 9,500 animals. Rehabilitation includes x-rays, diagnostic testing, surgery, medication, bandaging, splinting, physical therapy and special diets. They treat more than 180 species, from common house sparrows, pigeons and Eastern gray squirrels to rarities such as Virginia rails and snowy owls. This work is funded by donations and accomplished by an animal care staff of about 30 wildlife rehabilitators, who are aided by many dozens of volunteers.

I had the utmost pleasure of visiting Wild Bird Fund and getting a private tour, offering a rare inside look at their incredible bird sanctuary. Witnessing their dedication firsthand was both mind-blowing and heartwarming. The volunteers work tirelessly, pouring endless love and effort into caring for birds and ensuring they thrive in the city. Their mission is truly touching, and the impact they make is beyond words.
